Swap a tired kitchen tap for a new mixer — isolation, removal, fitting and leak checks.
KT-01Isolate the water supplyClose the isolation valves on both hot and cold feeds (quarter turn so the slot sits across the pipe). No valves? Turn off at the stopcock and drain down.
KT-02Disconnect the old tapOpen the tap to release pressure, then undo the flexible connectors or tap tails with a basin wrench. Have a towel and shallow tray ready.
KT-03Remove and clean the mountingUndo the retaining nut or bolt under the sink, lift the old tap out and clean off old sealant and limescale around the tap hole.
KT-04Fit the new tapSeat the new tap on its gasket, align the spout, and tighten the retaining fixings from below. Don't over-tighten onto a stainless sink.
